• How Do You Use a Dildo?

Glass Dildo Set by Tracey Cox

Dildos are used for both anal and vaginal penetration and great to insert during oral sex or for people who like multiple stimulation of different bits - but only one lover!

They come in all sorts of materials: latex rubber, cyberskin, jelly, silicone or the most beautiful (and safe) glass variety.

As well as being terrific as a role-play prop for a pretend threesome, they're ideal to help prepare for anal intercourse. You can create your perfect 'fake' penis because dildos are sold by width and length and easy to use.

Using a dildo vaginally solo or together:

Use lube: Apply some to opening of the vagina and put a little on the dildo itself as well.

Insert gently: With lube, it should slide inside with ease. If using it solo, you can sit or lie to insert or hold it firmly at the base and lower yourself on top.

Any position you have intercourse in will work. It helps to curve the dildo slightly towards the tummy.

Once it's inserted, you can thrust it in and out to simulate penis penetration. Or try twisting. Move it around inside, rubbing it against areas that feel good. Aim toward the front vaginal wall (imagine the bit under your tummy) to target the highly sensitive "G-spot". Use a rocking rather than thrusting motion if you're aiming for a G-spot orgasm or want to try to 'squirt'.

Add clitoral stimulation: Since clitoral stimulation is usually necessary to orgasm, you'll also probably need to use your hands or a vibe to stimulate the clitoral area simultaneously.

Go for double penetration: insert a dildo vaginally and anally at the same time.

    Using it anally:

Use anal lube: It's thicker, more slippery and lasts longer. The rectum isn't self-lubricating and tears easily.

Insert slowly, gently and a bit at a time: The sphincter has an outer and inner ring. The outer ring is controlled voluntarily but the inner ring is involuntary, meaning it will close the entrance when it senses an 'intruder'. As the body recognises that the foreign object (the dildo) is not going to hurt it, it will loosen up on its own. So press gently against the opening and insert a little at a time, letting the anus get used to it and relax before inserting further.

Once it feels comfortable, try gently thrusting in and out, twisting or rocking back and forth. Emphasise on the word gently especially if it's the first time!

Team with oral or hand stimulation of the vagina or penis for double the pleasure!
